Three district hospitals in Mountain Province have received four vehicles to improve patient transport and the delivery of health services to remote communities, the provincial government said Wednesday.
The provincial government distributed one patient transport vehicle (PTV) and three personnel transport vehicles to Barlig, Besao and Paracelis district hospitals.
Paracelis District Hospital received two vehicles —one PTV and one personnel transport vehicle— while Barlig and Besao district hospitals each received a personnel transport vehicle.
Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. said the vehicles were acquired at the request of the hospitals to help them respond to calls for medical transport and bring health personnel and supplies closer to patients and communities.
“The vehicles were purchased upon the request of the district hospitals so that they can easily respond to calls for assistance needing medical transport going to the hospital or to bring personnel and supplies nearer to the communities or the patient,” Lacwasan said in a message Wednesday.
He said the additional vehicles would help address transportation challenges faced by residents of far-flung communities, particularly those with limited public transportation.
The vehicles may also be used to transport patients and personnel when needed, he added.
“We advised them to use it for our people’s benefit,” Lacwasan said.
The provincial government is also working to ensure that health facilities have adequate logistics and medicines, in addition to transportation resources, to meet residents’ health needs, he said.
Besao District Hospital Chief of Hospital Dolores Dicdican said the additional vehicle would help support hospital operations and service delivery, according to a post on the provincial government’s social media page.
The heads of the three hospitals committed to properly maintaining and using the vehicles to benefit their communities.
Provincial Health Officer Annie Claire Pekas thanked the provincial government for making the vehicle procurement possible and urged health workers to use the new resources for their intended purposes. (PNA)
