The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in Bicol is targeting to complete more than 350,000 housing units in the six provinces of the region under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program (4PH), the flagship housing project of the Marcos administration.
During Tuesday’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas at AVP Catering Services here, DHSUD Bicol Regional Director Richard Manila said they already have three sites with ongoing construction in Albay and Camarines Sur provinces with an estimated 8,776 units.
“Ang 4PH program ay tugon sa isang bagong Pilipinas na isinusulong ang adhikain na “Walang Pilipino na Walang Sariling Bahay sa Sariling Bayan” ay magkakaroon ng katuparan (The 4PH program is a response to a new Philippines that promotes the aspiration that “No Filipinos will not have their own home in their own country will come true),” he said.
Manila said the three ongoing housing projects are in Barangay Homapon, Legazpi City, with 375 residential and commercial units; Barangay San Antonio, Milaor, with 2,126 units; and Barangay Concepcion, Naga City, with 6,275 units.
“We are very positive and passionate about this program; it’s very challenging, but I believe if we can complete at least one project, it will inspire others to have and avail of the housing project. The three ongoing projects will inspire others who still doubt the project,” Manila said.
He said at least 12 more housing projects under 4PH are now ready to start construction of more than 24,000 units.
These are in Malinao, Sto. Domingo in Albay; Vinzons, Daet, and Mercedes in Camarines Norte; Buhi, Naga City, and Pili in Camarines Sur; Masbate City; Mobo in Masbate; and Castilla in Sorsogon province.
Manila also said 19 other local government units in Bicol have submitted a letter of intent to be included in the 4PH. (PNA)
