The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) have formalized their partnership for housing project under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
In a news release Friday, the DHSUD said Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and CDC president and chief executive officer Agnes Devanadera have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to put up about 50,000 housing units in Clark.
“Through this MOU, we can maximize the potential of Clark in terms of pursuing township developments under 4PH, hence, triggering economic activities there,” Acuzar said.
He said Clark has modern infrastructures necessary for sustainable township, in addition to its proximity to the National Capital Region (NCR).
“It can attract more businesses, workers and residents from the nearby areas, including NCR, thereby addressing urbanization [concerns],” he said.
Devanadera said the partnership allows them to better serve the Filipinos residing in Region 3 in terms of having quality living spaces.
Last May, the DHSUD and the CDC had an initial discussion on the establishment of townships within the vicinities of Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) and the Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) under the 4PH program.
The presence of an international airport, hotels, hospitals, schools and other modern infrastructures in the area attracted the DHSUD to tap and transform the area into a “new and modern city”. (PNA)
