The provincial board on Monday passed a resolution requesting Gov. Paolo Everardo Javier to increase to PHP12,000 the incentive for 668 child development workers (CDWs) in this province from the current PHP10,000.
“The Antique provincial government recognizes the CDW’s vital role in molding the young Antiqueños by providing early childhood care, education and guidance, and that their remuneration will be increased,” said the resolution authored by Board Member Karmila Rose Dimamay.
Once increased, the incentive will be at par with other volunteer workers such as the Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Service Point Officers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars, who are receiving a PHP12,000 remuneration every end of the year, said Dimamay in a follow-up interview on Tuesday.
The proposed increase will be incorporated in the ensuing Supplemental Annual Investment Program of the Province of Antique, Dimamay added.
Provincial Ordinance Number 2021-296 provides for a PHP10,000 incentive for CDWs.(PNA)
