The National Housing Authority-Davao (NHA-11) reported Thursday that it broke ground for the construction of 42 housing units under the Bahay Pag-asa Housing Program in the Municipality of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental on Sept.9.

In a statement, NHA-11 Assistant General Manager Alvin Feliciano said the project will provide permanent homes for members of the Pinasagan Neighborhood Farmers and Fisherfolk Association, previously classified as informal settlers.

“The beneficiaries will finally have a place of their own to live. My only request is to cherish and take good care of the housing units we have provided,” Feliciano noted.

The PHP25-million project is funded under NHA’s Resettlement Assistance Program to Local Government Units (RAP-LGU) and will be developed on a four-hectare site in Purok 4 Eden, Barangay Manuel Roxas.

RAP-LGU is implemented through collaboration between the NHA and local governments.

Association president Jian Paul Logenza said the program has brought hope to their community, recalling the struggles they faced with eviction threats from rented property.

“This is really a dream come true. The housing project offers us stability and a chance to rebuild our lives with dignity,” Logenza said.

The Bahay Pag-asa Housing Program aims to provide sustainable housing for families living in danger zones, informal settlers, and those affected by calamities or government projects. (PNA)
