The city government expects to make micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) owners adept with technologies, ‘doing business’ and create networks that will boost their economic activity through the 2026 MSME Innovation Summit.
In a statement Tuesday, Aileen Refuerzo, chief information officer, said the two-day event slated May 29 to 30 at the University of the Cordilleras will focus on business-to-business matching and networking with 26 logistics and business organizations.
There will also be breakout sessions and seminars, and government servicing by city offices and 16 national government agencies.
Spearheaded by the city’s MSME Development Council and its partner agencies to advance the interests of MSMEs operating in the different parts of the city, the summit will have discussions on potential innovations, circular economy, smart productivity, and intellectual property to help MSMEs access available support in improving their products and services.
“With the new knowledge, they are expected to enhance their potential and generate higher income amid the pressing challenges,” she said.
The Department of Trade and Industry – Cordillera said more than 97 percent of operating businesses in the city are classified as MSMEs, while the remaining businesses fall under the large-scale category, mostly located at the economic zone authority.
The 2026 MSME Innovation Summit is part of the efforts of the local government and its partner national government agencies to empower small businesses to embrace available innovations that can help expand or improve their operations, productivity, and networks inside and outside the city. (PNA)
