Around 1,540 barangay health workers (BHWs) across Siargao Island have received their honorariums for December 2024 to February 2025, the Surigao del Norte provincial government announced Tuesday.
In a statement, the provincial government said the BHWs got PHP1,000 each for December 2024 and an increased amount of PHP1,500 each for January and February 2025.
“The increase in the honorarium starting January this year is a recognition of their dedication to service,” the provincial government said.
The release of the honorariums on Monday was led by Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers, who expressed gratitude to the BHWs for their contributions to the island’s communities.
In addition to the BHWs, 434 workers under the provincial government’s Bantay Barangay Movement (BBM) also received their honorariums for the same period. Each BBM worker was granted PHP5,700, covering December 2024 to February 2025.
A total of PHP6.2 million was distributed to BHWs and over PHP8.7 million to BBM workers during the payout activity.
“The provincial government assures all frontline community workers are given the support they need as they render services to residents,” the statement said.
Last week, PHP14.9 million in honorariums were distributed to 3,684 BHWs and 973 BBM workers serving barangays in 11 towns across mainland Surigao del Norte for January and February. (PNA)
