These celebrations are deeply rooted in the traditions and customs of the local communities, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

When in Rizal, don’t miss the colorful festivals.

1. Higantes Festival, Municipality Of Angono, Rizal

Angono Rizal, hailed as the “Art Capital of the Philippines,” is the home of the Higantes Festival, one of the most anticipated festivals in Rizal, held every November. It is celebrated to express gratitude to its patron, Saint Clement.

This unique celebration features enormous papier-mâché giants paraded through the streets, accompanied by lively music and traditional dances.

2. Binalayan Festival, Municipality Of Binangonan

Nestled beside the serene “lawa” and bamboo “kawayan,” Binangonan proudly unveils the “BINAngonan sa LAwa at kawaYAN” or “BINALAYAN” Festival, a vibrant celebration echoing its rich history and showcasing exclusive bamboo products and marine treasures.

3. Hane Festival, Municipality Of Tanay

Tanay’s annual Hane Festival, marking the municipality’s Founding Anniversary, is a mix of agri-eco-tourism, arts, and cultural exhibitions. It serves as a comprehensive exhibition, showcasing Tanay’s dynamic tourism, abundant agriculture, eco-friendly practices, cultural heritage, and the friendly spirit of its people.

The festival’s name, “Hane,” echoes Tanayan’s local expression of agreement, uniting the community in celebration.

4. Maytime Festival, City Of Antipolo

Maytime Festival in Antipolo City is an annual event to celebrate the rich culture and traditions of Antipoleños worldwide while fostering camaraderie within the community and the city government. The festivities commence with a Grand Parade, usually held on May 1, featuring vibrant street dancers and spirited drum and lyre bands adorned in colorful costumes.

Following the parade, the crowd is treated to a Street Dance Competition, featuring the city’s official song, “Tayo Na Sa Antipolo!” Throughout the month-long celebration, the City Government organizes various shows and events, creating a festive atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

5. Kakanin Festival, Municipality Of San Mateo

Kakanin Festival in San Mateo, Rizal, is known for showcasing a vibrant parade featuring rice delicacies, symbolizing the town’s beauty and prosperity.

Parishioners, devotees, and various organizations participate in grand floats displaying a variety of cherished kakanin. The festivities commence with a solemn mass, and afterwards, the delectable kakanins are distributed freely.

6. Tromba Festival, Municipality Of Baras

The celebration comes from an old Spanish religious festival honoring Nuestra Señora de Turumba. Before the afternoon procession and street dancing, there’s a Pagoda parade in Baras River.

7. Sumbingtik Festival, Municipality Of Cainta

SumBingTik Festival is an annual cultural event celebrated on December 1 in Cainta, Rizal. It coincides with the town’s founding anniversary and the feast of Our Lady of Light, the town’s patron saint. The festival had its inaugural celebration in 2014.

In Cardona, Rizal, bamboo arches play a traditional role in various celebrations such as the town’s fiesta, weddings, anniversaries, and other important events throughout the year. Crafted by skilled artisans, these folk art structures are made of bamboo and adorned with intricate designs using sharp bolos.

To honor this tradition, the town holds the Kaluskos Bamboo Arch Festival every first week of December.

From the towering papier-mâché figures to the aquatic marvels, colorful street dances, and the harmonious spirit of each celebration, these showcase the unity and creativity of the people of Rizal and reflect the rich heritage and lively community life of Rizal.
