The Department of Science and Technology in Calabarzon (DOST-4) is leveraging science and technology (S&T) awareness as a developmental tool in the region as it paid tribute to people and organizations that have helped it along the way.
During its 60th anniversary celebration at Lima Park Hotel here on Friday, the department’s regional arm recognized project partners and collaborators, laboratory clients, media partners, and Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program adopters.
Regional Director Emelita Bagsit said her staff and officers are her primary partners in ensuring that the department’s service in Calabarzon is impactful.
“Our commitment to promote science, technology, and innovation initiatives will not change so that we can continue to help the development of our region,” she told the Philippine News Agency.
DOST-4 acknowleged the contributions of micro, small and medium enterprises and state universities and colleges in the success of their programs.
With the theme, “DOST-4’s 60 years of Iridescence: Illuminating the Path of Science, Technology, and Innovation,” the agency dedicated its decades of success to all its staff and officers in the five-province region.
The event also paid tribute to Samuel Caperiña, Director of the Provincial Science and Technology Office in Laguna, who retired after 32 years in service.
The Pagasa Award given to Caperiña by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) was a testament of his excellent public service, according to Bagsit.
Pursuant to Executive Order No. 292, the CSC recognizes superior work performance and outstanding contributions of an individual benefiting an office, agency, community, or region.
DOST-4A likewise expressed gratitude to the contributions of the media in the dissemination of science and technology-related news through the Gawad Tambuli Awards.
