People from far-flung villages in Pangasinan’s first district will have easier access to medical services in the near future following the groundbreaking for the construction of the PHP12 million worth of super health center facility in Agno town.
In a statement Thursday, Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development communications unit head Glen Ramos said the health facility will be located along the provincial highway in Barangay Bangan-Oda, which is five kilometers away from the town proper.
“The super health center will have services such as outpatient clinic and consultation, pharmacy and dispensary, primary clinical laboratory, clinical microscopy, microbiology/parasitology, radiology, birthing ang lying-in, tuberculosis consultation with direct sputum smear processing and microscopy capability,” he said.
Ramos said PHP10 million of the financing will come from the Hospital Facility Enhancement Program, funded under this year’s national budget, while the Agno municipal government pledged to provide PHP2 million.
Regional Local Health Support Division chief Jimuel Cardenas said the facility will be a one-stop-shop for all outpatient medical services.
During the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, Agno Mayor Gualberto Sison thanked the DOH for selecting Agno as one of the beneficiaries of its super health center project.
“Once this super health center is completed, we will ensure that it will provide the necessary health and medical services to improve the health of our constituents,” he said. (PNA)
