Over 89,000 local and overseas jobs will be up for grabs in different job fair sites nationwide on Thursday, Independence Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Tuesday.
In a statement, DOLE said the 89,408 employment opportunities will be offered by 968 participating employers in 49 simultaneous job fairs across the country.
Job seekers are encouraged to explore local job opportunities primarily in positions such as sales clerks/assistants, production operators, call center representatives, service crew, and loan officers offered by 896 participating employers.
DOLE said each job fair site will also host a one-stop-shop of government services to assist with pre-employment document processing and other auxiliary needs such as career development support, labor regulations consultations, and programs for livelihood, skills training, and entrepreneurship.
Aside from offering jobs, DOLE will also distribute over PHP300 million in financial assistance to thousands of beneficiaries.
DOLE said a total of PHP14.41 million under its Adjustment Measures Program will be given to 253 beneficiaries. Additionally, PHP14.55 million in stipends will be paid out to 2,926 beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program, and PHP324,216 in salaries will go to 99 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students.
To extend government assistance to vulnerable and underserved sectors, DOLE will likewise distribute over PHP190 million worth of wages to 33,323 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program and over PHP73 million worth of livelihood assistance to 4,270 beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) in 80 sites nationwide.
The initiatives are under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, which aims to reduce the vulnerability of marginalized workers through temporary employment and entrepreneurship support.
In the National Capital Region, DOLE will participate in the Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo caravan at Rizal Park, Manila from June 10 to 11 where among the services to be offered are the renewal of PRC licenses; application for productivity toolbox assistance; filing of labor concerns through the DOLE Assistance for Request Management System; filing of employees’ compensation claims; registration with PhilJobNet, the government’s job-matching and labor market information portal; livelihood and emergency employment consultations; legal advice; and job fair pre-registration assistance.
Representatives from the Professional Regulation Commission, National Wages and Productivity Commission, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Employees’ Compensation Commission, Bureau of Local Employment, Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, the Bureau of Working Conditions, Legal Service, Information and Publication Service, and the DOLE-National Capital Region will assist in the two-day event.
